History

The Aston Martin V8 Series III represents one of the most distinctive expressions of Aston Martin’s celebrated V8 Grand Tourer. During the 1970s, the V8 established itself as the flagship of the marque, combining muscular styling, impressive performance and traditional British craftsmanship. With its long bonnet, imposing proportions and powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine, the model embodied the essence of the classic British luxury sports saloon.

Under the bonnet lies Aston Martin’s formidable 5.3-litre V8 engine, producing 305 bhp and delivering the effortless performance for which these cars are renowned. Paired with an automatic transmission, the V8 offers a relaxed yet powerful driving experience, making it an accomplished Grand Tourer equally suited to long-distance journeys.

This particular Aston Martin V8 Series III was registered in July 1978 and carries chassis number V8/11787/LCAS. It is finished in Dark Blue with a Tan interior, an elegant colour combination that complements the imposing proportions and understated character of this British luxury saloon. The car currently carries German registration and has covered 79,755 kilometres.

The Aston Martin was originally delivered in Germany. The present owner subsequently obtained a copy of the original invoice from the son of the first owner, providing an interesting link to the car’s early history. The original factory colour was Tudor Green, although the car was repainted in Dark Blue at some point in its past.

The V8 has formed part of the current owner’s collection since 2010. During his sixteen-year ownership, the car has been maintained by Aston Martin München, with Noble House in Almere taking care of its maintenance in more recent years. Invoices from both Aston Martin München and Noble House accompany the car, documenting a combined expenditure of approximately €50,000.

The maintenance history includes extensive mechanical work and the replacement of several important components, including the alternator, starter motor, fuel pump, radiator and ignition system. In addition, the carburettors, brake servos, power steering system and differential have all been overhauled. This substantial investment reflects the attention given to the car throughout its current ownership.

Today, the Aston Martin V8 Series III remains a compelling example of the marque’s traditional approach to luxury motoring. Its combination of a powerful V8, automatic transmission and elegant four-seat bodywork captures the essence of the classic British Grand Tourer.

Due to the owner’s age, part of his extensive collection is now being offered for sale, including this Aston Martin V8 Series III. After sixteen years in the same collection, the car presents an opportunity for a new custodian to acquire a charismatic Aston Martin with a documented maintenance history, substantial investment in its mechanical condition and an ownership story spanning more than a decade and a half.
